Attending a concert at least once a year is a tradition for almost one in six French people

Almost 17% of the French population makes it a point to attend at least one concert annually. Whether it's for the love of live music or the chance to experience different performances, this figure highlights the nation's strong cultural connection to live events.

In France, concerts have become a growing phenomenon, especially since the end of the Covid-19 pandemic. French people, known for their love of music, are fueling this trend. According to a survey by American Express-Ipsos, 57% of them attend at least one concert each year.

Different generations have distinct musical preferences. While older audiences (aged 60 and above) mostly enjoy variety concerts, with 62% favoring this genre, younger people under 35 lean towards more diverse styles like rap and pop. The 35-59 age group also enjoys variety music but shows less preference for modern genres.

What truly stands out is the desire for shared experiences. Nearly 89% of French attendees go to concerts with family or friends. Interestingly, young people tend to favor large venues like stadiums, while 37% of older audiences prefer smaller, more intimate concert spaces.

Despite this, younger generations love capturing their concert moments, with 70% of them sharing content online, contrasting with the older crowd, who often avoid their phones during events. This passion drives the French to spend around €225 annually on concerts, with younger audiences even surpassing this amount.
